Our Toddler & twos (3 months to 36 months)

Our Toddler Program offers pupils an extension of the home environment. The purpose of the Toddler& twos is to create a safe environment and the opportunity to develop independence, concentration, and self-esteem. The pupils are also given the opportunity to master the skill of independent toileting. The natural ability of the child to learn is cultivated with a consistent routine within a secure and orderly setting.

Outdoor exploration is enjoyed by all toddlers as parts of their daily routine. Gross motor development is strengthened on excursions, and children develop an appreciation for their environment. Expressing themselves through their crafts, singing and dancing in our bright, fun Toddlers & Twos’ class, and playing on our Toddler appropriate playground, are also a part of the pupil’s daily routine.

In the toddlers & twos’ classroom learning materials are arranged invitingly on low, open shelves. Our classrooms are not rooms with some Montessori equipment, we carefully plan and prepare each room so that it provides an enriching experience for each particular age group. Our classrooms are environments that provide challenges and interests for your developing child.

 

THE TODDLERS & TWOS’ CLASS IS MADE UP OF 5 AREAS:

Practical Life is to help the child gain control in the coordination of his movement, and help the child to gain independence and adapt to his society. The process helps them to develop an inner sense of order, a greater sense of independence, and a higher ability to concentrate and follow a complex sequence of steps.

Activities such as: pouring, spooning, sweeping, locks and keys, etc.

Sensorial comes from the words sense or senses. This allows the child to acquire clear, conscious, information and to be able to make classifications in his environment.  They are introduced to activities that of the senses such as colour differentiation, geometric shapes and discrimination of size, height, etc.

Language is a means of communication of ideas or feelings by the use of conventionalized sounds and signs, thus, being the spoken and written language. Pupils gradually learn this through vocabulary development & articulation enhancement

Math: At this level the toddlers & two learn how to count and recognize numbers

Culture & Science: This involves the introduction to the continents, science experiments, and discussions about people, plants and animals of the world.

Upon completion of the Toddlers Program, pupils should be independent in toileting, confident with social interactions, and comfortable with handling everyday tasks.
